Chemistry first batch: read composition, extract, dry and finish
Chemistry is a chain: blend ingredients, extract or react on a Heating Plate, remove water and alcohol in an Evaporator, then package dry residue in the Chem Finisher. Read the Composition Spectrometer rather than judging the mixture only by its water-grade name. Use the current Chemistry 101 manual for your selected recipe.

Establish the whole chain before consuming supplies
Laura Gray’s October 28 release guide describes four distinct jobs: the Blender prepares plant mush in a container, the Heating Plate supports extraction and reactions, the Evaporator removes water and alcohol overnight, and the Chem Finisher packages dry residue. The guide describes access through the Chemist start or Wild’s Retired Chemist upgrade. Read your current manual and upgrade offer for the requirements and cost. Release guide
Before a first batch, identify those stages and the Composition Spectrometer. Keep the intended product and manual open. Having a finishing machine does not compensate for missing an extraction or drying step.
Blender output says Gutterflow: did it fail?
A launch-day thread asks this exact question. A respondent points to the Composition Spectrometer and the amount of ingredient in the mixture, rather than treating its Gutterflow label as the whole answer. That is a player explanation, not a controlled before/after test. Use it as a diagnostic lead: inspect what substances are actually present before throwing the mixture away or blending more supplies. Original question and reply
Record the container, ingredient amount, water/alcohol and contaminants shown. A water-grade name does not establish that the required active ingredient is absent, extracted, concentrated or ready to package.
Follow one recipe, then verify every handoff
For Dream Dust, Gray describes extracting Dream Cap material with alcohol on the Heating Plate, then drying it before finishing. The reported extraction range is 40–60°C; overheating can destroy the extract. These are attributed launch-guide instructions, not our tested yield. Follow the current manual if its recipe differs. Recipe context
Use a small batch and write down what each step actually changed:
| Stage | Check before moving on | If it fails |
|---|---|---|
| Blend | Correct ingredient and a receiving container; composition afterward | Inspect contents before blaming the water-grade name |
| Extract / react | Recipe, temperature and substance change | Recheck the ingredient-specific rule; do not apply Dream Cap temperatures to every chemical |
| Dry | Usable power, solvent remaining and the overnight result | Separate no processing from incomplete drying |
| Finish | Intended product and the residue it accepts | Do not keep feeding a wet or incompatible mixture |
The table is an editorial troubleshooting worksheet, not an in-game menu reproduction. Change one variable per comparison and preserve the starting composition so a failed batch can be explained.
Why did the Evaporator not return alcohol?
A launch-day reply says alcohol recovery requires an additional module; default removal and recovery are different claims. The reply does not identify the module by name. Read the module description in your own build before purchasing anything, and budget solvent as consumed until you have observed recovery. No module name or recovery percentage is invented here. Finish a small batch before scaling
Record final product, actual accepted residue, output and realised sale. Do not assume a completed chemical is legal, wanted or profitable. Inspect its current tags and buyer requirements, then read the inspection checks if relevant. This page intentionally does not reproduce another site’s recipe catalogue or guarantee a purity tier from untested numbers.
